I 'm overwhelmed

We live in amazing times! Things are progressing at an amazing pace. I cannot begin to keep up.

Technology is changing the way we live. We don't even have to go home and turn on the TV or computer. We can now get the latest news and our email from our cellphones which are also our cameras and MP3 players.

Right now I am composing this blog on my iPhone. When I am finished I will post it on the Internet via email.

I recently took the train to Denver. I took photos and videos from the train windows and instantly emailed them to my grandson, Josh. He was able to watch the videos on his iPhone.

Plus, my iPhone was also my GPS device and I could track my location at all times. Also my iPhone could tell me how fast the train was traveling using it's GPS.

I have an online business which I was able to maintain from my iPhone as my train sped across the desert at 80 mph.

I'm overwhelmed!

The lost treasure

It is a lost treasure. Only a privileged few have discovered it. It is not an economic barrier that is keeping the less fortunate from this discovery. In fact, the poor and under privileged may have had the advantage in discovering this treasure. Those with money and luxuries may have been too occupied with their toys to notice this treasure. Now they are unaware of their own poverty. Not necessarily poverty in the material realm. But definitely a poverty of the mind. They do not know how to think and reason. In many ways they are fools. They make stupid choices. They are the uninformed who vote for the wrong leaders.

What is this lost treasure? It is the gift of reading. There are many who know how to read, but they just don't read. They let others read for them. Then they listen to those other readers on television or radio. Often what they hear has been spun to reflect someone's political or religious agenda. And since they do not read they do not know how to recognize truth from lies.

We are living in the midst of a treasure mine. We have reading material all around us. There are libraries, book stores, newspapers, magazines, ebooks, the Internet, eBook readers and even readers on our cell phones. But only the priviledged few choose to read.

Let's give Obama a break

I watched Obama's Afghanistan speech Tuesday night.

I did not vote for Obama. I have been opposed to almost all of his actions. But I thought his speech was gutsy. He may not have committed the full 40,000 troops. But he did emphasize the importance of winning the war and he sent a strong message to the Taliban. That took guts when most of Obama's supporters oppose the war.

It does tell us something. Bush was right. To ignore Afghanistan would be dangerous for our country's security. Obama now knows this and it took guts to go against his supporters for the sake of our country.

I am disappointed that Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity have to focus on the delay in making the decision and the fact that Obama did not commit to the full 40,000 troops. Could Obama do anything to receive their praise?

It probably was not wise to inform the Taliban that we would begin pulling out in 2011. That was most likely a bone tossed to the antiwar crowd. And we Americans have learned by now that we can't trust anything Obama says. We know he will not follow through on his promise.

The main stream media is beginning to give Obama the Bush treatment. I suggest that the conservatives give Obama a break. We don't have to keep pounding on to keep our viewer ratings.

Blessed is Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods downfall is shocking. He was my idol. Mr. Clean.

Now I discover that he is an adulterer. Worse, he is a deceiver. He is a liar. He is a sinner and needs the blood of Jesus to be to reconciled to God. All his wealth and fame mean nothing.

He may lose millions. He may lose his family. He may go to hell for eternity. He may burn in Hell, not only because he was unfaithful to his wife. He will go there if he fails to cry out to God, "God be merciful to me the sinner."

At least now he knows that he is a sinner. Without these sins coming to the surface, he may never have come to that realization.

There is a danger to those faithful husbands who have not lied to their wives and had an affair. That danger is that may go through life without ever having to experience brokenness.

Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit." He then went on to say, "Blessed are those who mourn." This was followed by "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness."

At least Tiger Woods now knows his sinfulness. I suspect that he is also mourning over his sinfulness. I pray that he desires to be made righteous and will turn to Jesus to receive the cleansing and new life that He provides.
